EVENTS

What connects the most? Food, sports, music and dance are the best means of communication we have. Even without language. That's why, together with other organizations, we organize small festivals, celebrations and meetings where different cultures are welcome.
The goal of these events is for people to meet and make new contacts and exchange ideas. Only by talking to each other, we can experience the needs of others.

CO-SPACE

The "Co-space" project is our next step into the future. We want to put our guideline "shelter is not enough" into practice and offer a space outside your own four walls where people can meet, communicate and work together. The idea is a space that is centrally located, accessible for everyone and that brings together different people and organizations to become active together. We are currently looking for financial and material support, a free space in the city of Zurich and partners. The goal of this space is to enable true encounters in order to discuss and work together on problems, possible solutions, experiences and insights.

ARCHITECTURE IS A HUMAN RIGHT

Emergency Architecture and Human Rights and Architects for Refugees, together with World-Architects, have launched a campaign and movement entitled "Architecture is a Human Right". We believe that architecture, space, city and the built environment play a central role in human rights. We have come together to discuss this issue, to attract and involve as many stakeholders as possible, and to develop a common manifesto linking architecture with human rights. Our goal is to make quality spaces accessible to all. We invite individuals and organizations to join us in this exciting and fundamentally important work.

WALKING TOURS

In cooperation with Okbaab Tesfamariam we organize city tours. We offer public and private tours for everyone. Okbaab (himself a former refugee) talks about his experiences in the city and we tell about the city and its architecture. The city tours lead to spaces and places where different private and community needs take place.

PUBLICATIONS ABOUT THE CITY TOURS

LINDENHOF - PESTALOZZI LIBRARY

Our "city tour Route 1.0" starts at the Lindenhof. Okbaab and Bence introduce themselves briefly. Who are they, why do we do the city tours. Okbaab is originally from Eritrea and lives in Switzerland since 2009. He tells his experience as a refugee. Bence is co-founder of Architecture for Refugees SWITZERLAND and talks about the architectural and urban planning aspects of the refugee crisis.

PESTALOZZI LIBRARY - HB ZURICH - PLATZSPITZ

We take a look at the main station, talk about society, public spaces and then we continue to the Platzspitz, where many people spend time in spring and summer, and from there to the Autonomous School.

For us, this kind of communication is an important working tool to stimulate discussions, exchange ideas and learn from each other.
